More Information about Paul:

Paul Lermitte is an experienced financial planner, specializing in caring for clients who have a family business and other related family enterprises. He’s seen it all: great ideas turned into great realities, multiple family groups working together to build an ever-stronger family-owned business, successful transition of the business management from one generation to another, and even family feuds that threaten it all. He works hard to help his clients through the many transitions and challenges that family business, and the families who rely on them for a living, go through. He is an enthusiastic, fun-loving people-person, just as you see in his picture. At the same time, he takes family and community life very seriously.

Along the way, the subject of how to teach children, teens, young adults, and even mature members of the next generation of family members who are getting ready to take their place of responsibility as managers and leaders, comes up… over and over!

As a professional financial planner who appreciates the importance of financial literacy and the impact that wise versus unwise money management has on a family’s security and lifestyle, Paul, along with his wife, Jan, felt it was crucial to teach their own children these fundamental skills, too. Thus was the “Dollars and Sense” training system developed, with three young boys as the first “guinea pigs” to test the system. Happily, the boys are nearly all grown up now since the first edition was published, and Paul and Jan are happy to confirm that their money management training method works!

Paul’s first book in the Dollars and Sense series,Allowances, Dollars and Sense,” helps us teach our children, aged 5 – 12, foundational financial literacy lessons. A brand-new edition of this international bestseller, updated to reflect the dramatic changes in our young people’s society — especially in the realm of technology and internet access — since 1999, is now available as a print book through this website (via Kiangle Communications) and through both Amazon Canada and Amazon US.

In keeping with the times, this book is now also available as a Kindle ebook through Amazon.com, released November, 2011. You can also find the ebook, including view a sample of it, through the Apple iTunes (iBooks) Store, released in January, 2012. Efforts to list the book in Chapters/Indigo and Barnes and Noble are now underway.

The second book, Dreams, Dollars and Sense, written to guide parents of teenagers, is due out in April 2012. Decisions, Dollars and Sense, the third book in the four-part series, is written to 20- and 30-year olds to help them make wise decisions early in their home-and-career-building lives, and is (optimistically!) planned for release in October 2012. The fourth book, A Legacy of Dollars and Sense, is written to family enterprise leaders as a guide to help them with their family business issues. We hope to release this fourth book in 2013.
